150 operators run at least one published build-to-rent scheme in the directory, ranked here by the homes they manage. Greystar (16,090), Urbanbubble (9,825) and Grainger (8,968) lead; the ten largest account for 44% of all recorded homes.

How these figures are produced

“Homes under management” is the sum of recorded unit counts across each operator's published schemes. A scheme with no recorded unit count contributes to the scheme count but not to homes, so operators whose schemes are mostly undated pipeline or single-family parcels without a published count will sit lower than their true size.

The operator is the company managing and letting the building day to day, not the asset owner; where a managing agent works under an operator's brand, the brand is counted. The “To Be Confirmed” placeholder is excluded.
