How these figures are produced
A scheme is counted when it passes the directory's single-ownership test and is published: a whole apartment building in one ownership, or a parcel of houses bought as a block and managed as one operation. Homes are the recorded unit counts; schemes without one are counted as schemes only, which is why the homes figure is a floor, not a total. Status moves on evidence, not announcements.
These are directory figures, not a market estimate: they cover what has been found and verified, and grow as coverage does. For a market-wide total use the British Property Federation's quarterly figures alongside these.
