Central Square is a Build-to-Rent development in the heart of Cardiff's central business district, beside Cardiff Central station. Owned by BlueCastle Capital, the latest proposals comprise 528 rental homes in a 50-storey landmark tower that would become Wales' tallest residential building, replacing an earlier consent for 364 units.

Custom House Street is a 400-home co-living tower planned for central Cardiff, which won planning consent from Cardiff Council in June 2026. Designed by Rio Architects for developer Watkin Jones, the 33-storey building pairs compact studios with roughly 1,700 sq m of shared space — a residents' kitchen, lounge, gym and roof terrace, plus co-working areas and a podcast room. It replaces a previously approved 42-storey student scheme on the same plot.

Urban Centric acquired the former Legal & General Cardiff HQ Office in Cardiff Central in 2022. Planning approval was received in April 2024, with construction set to complete in Q2 2026. PLATFORM_ Cardiff is a build-to-rent apartment development on Dumballs Road in Cardiff city centre (CF10), comprising around 200 one- and two-bedroom apartments completed in November 2022. It is operated by Platform_ and includes a 24-hour gym, co-working space, and two rooftop terraces.

Central Quay (Tai Afon) is a 718-home Build-to-Rent development on the former Brains Brewery site in central Cardiff, delivered across two high-rise towers of 24 and 29 storeys. Developed by Watkin Jones and owned by Legal & General, the scheme is being delivered in phases — Phase 1 reached practical completion in May 2026, with Phase 2 due to complete by March 2027.

The Rise is a 30-storey build-to-rent tower on Guildford Crescent in central Cardiff, and on completion the tallest building in the city. It provides 272 rental apartments — 140 one-bedroom and 132 two-bedroom — above ground-floor retail, with amenity space on the ground, first and 27th floors. Galliford Try built the £52m scheme, reaching completion in late July 2026. Lloyds Living acquired the site from Galliford Try Investments and owns the finished asset, with Native appointed to operate it. The tower sits beside the Canal Quarter regeneration area, a short walk from the Principality Stadium and Cardiff Central station.
