About
Old Leatherworks is set to become Dudley's first purpose-built rental housing scheme, with planning permission granted in July 2026 for 265 build-to-rent apartments on the former Cavendish House site — once home to the Hillmans Leather factory — beside the new £24m Dudley Interchange and Metro station. Bowerbird Homes, part of the same group as Avenbury (Dudley), is bringing the £57m scheme forward as part of the wider regeneration of the town centre. Plans include communal resident amenities and secure cycle storage, with the design orientated towards views of Dudley Castle.
